Product Profitability
In the spring of 1998 I was assigned to the
product profitability project. Product profitability
was an internally developed financial reporting
system which was in serious disarray. It
had not been made Y2K compliant and the processing
time for the month-end closing was beginning
to approach one month. The software had been
supported by a team of four people because
of all the problems in the software. I
was able to correct almost all the problems
and reduce the support requirement to a single
person. I was also able to correct problems
in the procedures which reduced the time
required for month-end close from two weeks
to four days.
Below are some quotes from my March 2000
performance revue:
- Ken Denny has done an exemplary job of supporting
the Product Profitability system. He has
consistently provided excellent customer
service and technical know-how, and his
attitude
has been without reproach. Ken has had
to
shoulder the bulk of all the support responsibilities
and has done so with patience, understanding,
and a willingness to understand his customers'
business.
- Ken has had a heavy load on his shoulders.
I very much appreciated the dedication that
Ken has shown to meeting deadlines, pointing
out strategic changes that we need to make
in our system, and supporting me and other
users. Ken has done an admirable job. I value
the support that he provides to this project.
- Due to resourcing contraints, Ken has had
a heavy load on his shoulders this year as
really the only support for the Product Profitability
system. However, even without much backup,
he has been able to avoid the mix-ups and
mistakes that plagued our processes last
year.
